The Cessna Citation M2 is the current-production replacement for the CJ1 and Mustang, and Naples clients see it as the modern-fleet default when the mission is a short-range light jet trip with better avionics and lower operating cost than a 20-year-old CJ1.
Cessna launched the M2 in 2013 with Garmin G3000 avionics, updated Williams FJ44-1AP-21 engines, and a refreshed cabin. Six to seven seats, an enclosed lavatory, 1,550 nautical miles of range, 404 knots cruise, and a 41,000-foot ceiling. Textron still ships new M2s from Wichita.

Why the Cessna Citation M2 Fits Naples
APF handles the M2 routinely and MKY takes it on cool days with a moderate payload. The type’s short-field manners are inside the Naples-market envelope.
1,550 nautical miles of range covers TEB, HPN, BED, and PWK to APF nonstop on a normal day, comfortably; YYZ southbound is inside the book with a light payload. Southbound to Nassau, Great Exuma, or Turks and Caicos, the M2 is easy.
The enclosed lavatory is the differentiator against the CJ1 and Mustang. On a 3-hour trip with family, that matters. Repeat snowbird clients often trade up to the M2 from an older CJ1 for exactly this reason.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Charter Pricing Reference
Industry hourly rates for the Cessna Citation M2 run $3,000 to $4,200 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.
M2 hourly rate is modestly above the CJ1 and Mustang, reflecting the newer airframe and enclosed lavatory. On a full-season run of predictable snowbird hours, the M2 usually pencils out favorably.
