Naples charter flights run on a range of aircraft, from pistons for short hops to long-range jets for transoceanic trips. The category breakdown below covers what each type does well and which Naples-area trips fit it. APF’s main runway (5/23, around 6,600 feet) handles light, midsize, and super-midsize jets directly; heavy and ultra-long-range aircraft fly into APF as well, and RSW is the operational alternate when runway, weather, or operator performance limits call for it.
Category Overview
- Pistons: short hops, two to six seats, tight runways.
- Turbo-props: efficient mid-range, four to nine seats.
- Entry-level jets: first jet category, four to seven seats.
- Light jets: workhorse for short to mid trips.
- Super-light jets: extra range and cabin over light.
- Midsize jets: Naples-Northeast workhorse.
- Super-midsize jets: coast-to-coast capability.
- Heavy jets: large cabin, transcontinental range.
- Long-range jets: non-stop transatlantic and Pacific.
- VIP airliners: large group charter, airliner cabins.
- Helicopters: door-to-door short hops.
Picking the Right Category
Distance, passenger count, baggage, and runway at both ends drive the category choice. Tell your advisor the trip and we’ll match category-by-category before getting into specific tail numbers. The wrong category is usually expensive (over-flying with too much aircraft) or impossible (under-flying with too little range or too few seats).
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Naples-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 and peaks in September. We work with you on schedule cushion and forecast windows when those months drive the calendar. If any changes are required due to weather and passenger safety, you can expect your advisor to reach out as soon as we are aware. APF observes voluntary Quiet Hours from 10 PM to 7 AM; for late-night arrivals or pre-dawn departures, Southwest Florida International (RSW) is often the more practical option.
