The Learjet 31 is the last of the classic Learjet-fuselage light jets and still shows up in the Naples market on price-sensitive short trips. From APF’s 6,600-foot main runway, the 31 flies nonstop to Teterboro or Chicago Executive with six passengers and reaches 51,000 feet at cruise, higher than any Citation in the same category.
Bombardier’s Learjet division produced the 31 from 1988 through 2003 as the follow-on to the Learjet 35 fuselage with delta fins and better hot-and-high performance. Why the Learjet 31 Fits Naples
Range at 1,400 nautical miles is the shortest in this light-jet grouping; TEB and HPN are inside the envelope with a light cabin, PWK is a stretch with headwinds, and BED is at the edge with a full cabin. For a Toronto or Aspen trip, pick a different type.
The 51,000-foot ceiling matters on a Naples summer thunderstorm day: the 31 can top most of the convective activity that a Citation Bravo (45,000 ft ceiling) has to route around. Ride quality above the buildups is a real Learjet advantage.
