Naples Cessna Citation CJ2 Charter

The Cessna Citation CJ2 is a common Naples charter pick for smaller family trips, two to six passengers running the Northeast-to-Naples snowbird pattern on a mid-priced light jet. Built between 2000 and 2006, the CJ2 fits comfortably on the 6,600-foot main runway at APF and reaches Nassau (MYNN) with a full cabin.

Cessna certified the CJ2 in 2000 as an extended, higher-thrust follow-on to the original CitationJet, then updated it to the CJ2+ in 2006 with FADEC engines and Collins Pro Line 21 avionics. The type carries six to seven passengers, cruises at 418 knots to 45,000 feet, and delivers 1,613 nautical miles of range. Lavatory is belted.

Why the Cessna Citation CJ2 Fits Naples

Range at 1,613 nautical miles covers Chicago Executive (PWK) to APF and Bedford (BED) to APF nonstop with a light payload, which are the two most common Northeast and Midwest snowbird routes into Naples for a family of four. Toronto (YYZ) usually needs a tech stop.

The type can be single-pilot certified, which some Naples operators keep on their trip sheets for cost-sensitive owners running short repositioning legs. That does not change the passenger experience but does open up availability during peak season when qualified two-pilot crews are the bottleneck.

APF handles the CJ2 comfortably on any winter day; the runway is not the limiting factor. What limits the CJ2 in the Naples market is baggage volume (65 cubic feet) versus a CJ3 or Encore. Two families with beach gear will notice.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
