The Gulfstream III (G3) is the 1980 stretch of the Gulfstream II family, adding a longer fuselage, Aviation Partners-style winglets, and a stand-up cabin trimmed for 14 to 19 in the largest configurations. For Naples clients, the GIII is a value-market heavy with a 3,650 nautical mile range and the Gulfstream heavy jet ride.
Gulfstream Aerospace certified the Gulfstream III in 1980, carrying Rolls-Royce Spey 511-8 turbofans, an extended fuselage (83.1 feet long versus 79.9 feet for the GII), the same 77.8-foot wingspan with winglets added, and 24.4 feet of tail height. Cabin is trimmed for 14 in a typical charter layout and up to 19 dense. Production ran through 1986 when the GIV replaced it.

Why the Gulfstream III / G3 Fits Naples
APF at 6,600 feet handles the GIII as a case-by-case departure at MTOW, and the Spey engines put the airframe in the same Stage 3 noise compliance conversation as the GII. Operators plan the type for daytime ops at APF and generally reposition for evening or early-morning departures out of RSW.
The 3,650 nautical mile range covers the Northeast and Midwest snowbird map nonstop. Aspen is inside the envelope with a light cabin. For a large charter group (14 to 16 pax) that needs a value-market heavy jet out of Naples for a corporate retreat or a family reunion pairing, the GIII is one of the honest options, with the caveat that the airframe is aging out of the Part 135 fleet.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
