The Bombardier Challenger 650 is the aircraft Naples clients ask for when they want a wide-body cabin for a family of nine but don’t need a transatlantic airframe to do it. On the practical envelope out of Naples Municipal (APF), the 650 is a case-by-case departure at MTOW, so we plan the trip with the operator around weight and temperature rather than treating APF as an unlimited departure field.
Bombardier certified the Challenger 650 in 2015 as the final CL-600 series variant, following the 604 and 605. The airframe carries GE CF34-3B turbofans, Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics, and a stand-up cabin trimmed for 9 in a typical charter layout, up to 12 in the maximum executive configuration. Cabin cross-section is one of the widest in the heavy jet class, which is why it flies as many family and executive groups as it does.

Why the Bombardier Challenger 650 Fits Naples
The 4,000 nautical mile range covers every routine Naples inbound leg with headroom, and it opens up the pairings that snowbird owners in Port Royal and Aqualane Shores actually book: nonstop from Aspen (ASE) during ski week, nonstop from Toronto (YYZ) into APF at full cabin, and nonstop to Nassau (MYNN) or Turks and Caicos (MBPV) for a shoulder-season stretch. At 68.5 feet long and 64.3 feet wingspan, it slots into the FBO ramp at APF without special handling.
On the departure side, APF’s 6,600-foot main runway is inside the type’s envelope on cool mornings with a partial fuel load. Hot Naples afternoons at MTOW push the numbers, and operators will either fuel-stop at RSW (Southwest Florida International, Fort Myers) or reposition for early-morning ops. For clients running a full-cabin, full-fuel departure to the Northeast in July or August, RSW is the honest answer.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
