Status and Operations Updates for Southwest Florida Airports

September 30th, 2022 – Naples Jet Charter wishes everyone affected by Hurricane Ian a safe and speedy recovery as crews assess the damage left by the historic impact of this category 4 storm.

We have served the Southwest Florida area for over 10 years, and continue to assist with air charter services including emergency and humanitarian missions while the area recovers.

Our team reached out to local airport authorities and FBO providers for updates on operations and conditions at airports along Florida’s Southwest coast.

Below you’ll find the latest updates for each airport, as well as contact details and website information.

(KPGD) Punta Gorda Airport

We were unable to reach anyone at the Punta Gorda Airport or its executive FBO as of 12:15 PM EST on 9/30.

UPDATE (9/30; 5 PM EST): Punta Gorda Airport is currently prioritizing emergency and humanitarian aid missions in the Fort Myers area. The airport is limited on AvGas, and restricting access unless for these missions until further notice; jet fuel is available for business jets interested in flying to/from the area.

UPDATE (10/4): The Punta Gorda Airport is open again as of 10/3, with Allegiant operating several inbound flights. Gates are fully operational and collecting parking fees upon exit, and passenger parking lots have re-opened to retrieve vehicles. (KFMY) Page Field

Page Field Airport is closed indefinitely – humanitarian and emergency operations only.

UPDATE (10/4): Page Field re-opened to general aviation traffic on 10/4 at 10:00 AM EST. Hours of operation will be 8 AM – 6 PM EST starting 10/5, until further notice. After-hours FBO service will not be available at this time, with the exception of government, medical service and humanitarian aid operations. (KVNC) Venice Municipal Airport

There was no answer when attempting to contact the Venice Municipal Airport as of 12 PM EST on 9/30, and there was no dial tone when reaching out to the Suncoast Air Center FBO as of 5 PM EST on 9/30. The airport suffered substantial damage to hangars and aircraft, and it is unclear when operations will resume.

UPDATE (10/4): Venice Municipal Airport briefly opened following Hurricane Ian, but remains closed as of 10/3 while insurance adjusters perform damage assessments at the airport. Visit the City of Venice’s website for the latest updates – https://www.venicegov.com/government/airport

(KRSW) Southwest Florida International Airport

The runway is currently closed indefinitely. There is a NOTAM requiring special permission for all incoming flights to Southwest Florida International. This notice is effective through October 7th, 2022. The FBO is currently open, and limited to Helicopter services only; helicopters are parking all over the airport, creating refueling issues at the FBO. All helicopter flights are advised to contact Private sky FBO to coordinate services.

UPDATE (10/4): Southwest Florida International Airport will open 10/5 with limited commercial airline service. Initial hours as the airport reopens 7 AM – 5:30 PM EST for security checkpoints, with flights operating from 8:30 AM to 6 PM EST. (KSRQ) Sarasota Bradenton International Airport

The airport is currently open and under normal operations, including refueling and other FBO services at Atlantic Aviation.

UPDATE (10/4): Sarasota Bradenton International Airport remains open, but the airport advises to check with your airline before arriving at the airport as operations resume – https://flysrq.com/airlines

(KAPF) Naples Airport

The airport is currently open, however, airport slots are required for all incoming flight until further notice. Arrivals must be coordinated with the airport operations, who can be reached at (239) 564-1692. Naples Jet Center FBO is closed today, but resuming normal operations tomorrow (10/1/22).

(KMKY) Marco Island Executive Airport

The airport is currently open, however operations are restricted to daytime hours only, from 7 AM – 7 PM EST.
