Pets ride along on a lot of Naples trips: snowbird households arriving for season, second-home families opening Port Royal for the winter, or a member-guest weekend at Naples National with the dog in tow. We arrange the flight so the pet rides in the cabin with the family, not under it.
Most of our Naples pet flights run through APF (KAPF) into Teterboro, White Plains, Bedford, Chicago Executive, or Toronto. The drive from either FBO at APF (Naples Jet Center or Naples Aviation) to a Naples residence runs five to fifteen minutes, so the pet’s time outside the carrier stays short on both ends.
How Pet Travel Actually Works
Not every operator permits pets in the cabin. Tell your advisor up front that the trip includes a pet, and we will match the aircraft to an operator whose policy supports it. Useful information to share when you book:
- Size and weight of the pet (or pets).
- Trip length and number of legs.
- Whether the pet travels with a crate or rides loose with the family.
- Any history with motion sensitivity, anxiety, or medication on flights.
- Service-animal status or supporting documentation if applicable.
Your advisor will walk through the options before you commit. For longer legs, some families pack a crate for the cruise portion and let the pet out during taxi and approach; others prefer a single travel routine all the way through. Both are workable on the right aircraft.
Pets and Exotics
Dogs and cats are the most common, but Naples second-home families travel with a wider range than people expect. Birds, small reptiles, and other household pets are arrangeable when the operator allows it and we have enough notice to confirm. Naples-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Naples is a seasonal town. November through April brings the heaviest inbound pet traffic, and those bookings should land further in advance than off-season trips. Hurricane season (June 1 through November 30, peak in September) shifts more weight onto forecast windows; if any changes are required due to weather and passenger safety, you can expect your advisor to reach out as soon as we are aware. APF observes voluntary Quiet Hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, which can shape departure-time options for late-day pet flights; Southwest Florida International (RSW) in Fort Myers is the practical alternative when the schedule needs it.
Vetting Behind the Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires: FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs), operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates, pilot experience and incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
