The Shorts 360 (base airframe in service since November 1982, freighter 360F variant followed) is a boxy twin-turboprop regional cargo type with a large main-deck volume for its size. Naples-market work goes through RSW or MIA hub feeder routes; KAPF is not a cargo field.
Two flight crew. Main-deck cargo volume 922 cubic feet (around 26 cubic meters). Payload around 7,000 pounds (3.5 tons) in the 360-300F freighter configuration. Range 570 nautical miles with max fuel. Cruise 210 knots true, ceiling 20,000 feet. Length 70.8 feet, wingspan 74.8 feet.

Why the Shorts 360 Fits Naples
RSW to Bahamas short-hop cargo (Nassau, Freeport, Bimini) fits the Shorts 360F on runs where the volume matters more than the speed. The unusually large square main-deck cross-section takes oversized boxes, palletized machinery, or bulk perishable freight that a Saab 340F cannot fit.
Intra-Florida hub feeder is the second mission: MIA to RSW, MIA to Naples-area distribution ramps at FMY (Page Field), or MCO to RSW. Overnight freight schedules for retail and pharmacy.
Hurricane Ian (2022) precedent: the Shorts 360F is the kind of small utility freighter that lands early on a damaged field when the jet freighters are still holding. Slow but durable, and short-field certified.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
