Gulfstream G100 / G150 / Astra

The Gulfstream G100, G150, and IAI Astra SPX are Israeli-built midsize jets that punch above their category on range and cruise, and they show up on Naples charter quotes when a client wants nonstop reach to Toronto or Aspen without stepping up to a super midsize. From APF’s 6,600-foot main runway, the G150 flies almost any snowbird origin nonstop with a full cabin.

The Astra SPX (produced 1996 to 2001) evolved into the Gulfstream G100 (2003 rebrand) and the redesigned G150 (2006). Two Honeywell TFE731-40 turbofans drive the type to 475 knots at up to 45,000 feet, six to seven passengers, 2,950 nautical miles of range for the G150 (Astra SPX shorter at ~2,800 nm), and 80 cubic feet of baggage. Belted lavatory on the base type.

Range at 2,950 nautical miles for the G150 covers every Northeast, Midwest, and Canadian snowbird origin with margin, including YYZ, ASE, and Denver nonstop with a full cabin. The Astra SPX shorter range still handles TEB, HPN, PWK, BED without difficulty.

Cruise speed of 475 knots is faster than an Excel/XLS or Hawker 850XP; block times on a TEB-APF trip run roughly 20 to 30 minutes shorter than an Excel.

APF is comfortable for the G150 and Astra SPX on any typical day. The type is not on Naples Jet Charter’s staging fleet catalogue but is available through Northeast and East Coast operators; treat availability as market-driven.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
